My grandmother was French. Her name was Marguerite and she was born in the little village of Graffigny. As a child I never studied French, nor do I remember much of what my grandmother said in French. I do recall the phrase, “Fermez la bouche!” But this could have been something my four sisters made up to keep me quite.
I made this promise to myself to learn French and here I am two years into it.
Maintenant trois ans et encore c’est une lutte pour entendre et être entendu.
